Believer, wife, mama, photographer, homemaker

Hello {mama} Friend!

I'm Marissa but I happily go by Riss. I'm based out of New London, OH and thoroughly love our farming community. I offer newborn, family and extended family photography (and then some in-between that).

Let's tell your story! Click here!

Most days you can find me chasing after my boys, reheating my cup of tea or coffee (sweetened with hot cocoa), rounding up laundry, running to the field or the shop for my hubby, and usually bingeing a podcast or latest country song in the background. I typically call myself the best picker-upper and list maker.

What pulls on my heart strings?

When I was in high school my goal was to have a career that ultimately left a lot of time for my dream job - being a wife and a mama. After a few road blocks and pot holes, God has blessed me beyond belief. I'm living out what I had hoped would be God's plan for my life. I am married to my best friend (who happens to have a passion for farming and is a rockin' mechanic). We are raising a few little humans. We live out in the "boonies" as some would say, but basically we're surrounded by fields and we couldn't love it more. We have a derpy golden retriever and a quirky border collie. All that to say - I set my heart on photography over 10 years ago because I was hoping it would lead to flexibility so my family could come first. And I'm finally at that point! I've had multiple nanny jobs, a long distance 40-45 hour week office job, but I've put my heart into this business so that I can serve {you} and {your family} to the best of my abilities.

I love an evening when I can go on a date with my man; we're always looking for a little hole in the wall place to eat and lately have been thinking of ideas besides food (so if you have a fun date idea, please pass it on!). And an afternoon baking or playing outside with my kiddos makes my heart happy.

Honestly, one of my biggest struggles with an office job (don't get me wrong, for some it works out great!), was not feeling like I was serving a purpose. I felt disposable, unnoticed, running a never-ending rat race. Summer of 2021, after a lot of prayer and conversations, my husband and I agreed that I could leave my corporate job. Ever since that leap God has been opening doors for both of us in our small businesses, giving us peace that we made the right decision. And I finally feel like I'm serving a purpose of being a full time wife and mother and now photographer. All three of those titles have been earned and though I'm not perfect, I work my butt off at all three of them.

So when you inquire about a session and book with me, it's not to pay our bills. It's a creative outlet for me; I put my heart into your session, I deliberate over all your images, with the end goal to deliver a gallery that YOU will cherish as much as I cherish my family!

Some of my favorite things.....

Jesus, my family and our animals, baking, flower gardening, writing lists, online grocery shopping (insta cart is amazing!), fries with mayo, and hard ice cream.
